Farningham 1st XI Vs Offham 1st XI

Farningham 1st XI Won by 5 wickets

Having forfeited the toss because of a lack of an umpire, Offham chose to bat on a track that was rumoured to play slower and lower as time went on. Offham lost a couple of early wickets, but rebuilt and when drinks had arrived, Offham were 57/2. Farningham employed spinners to good effect, and the ball was difficult to get off the square. Having realised that the scoring rate needed to be upped slightly, a couple of more wickets fell, until Laurie Bell (30) and Nathan Faulkes (22) built a solid partnership. The pace merchants were brought back on in the latter overs, but Offham could not capitalize, eventually finishing on 152/9.

Offham knew that early wickets were going to be key to success, but Farningham got off to a good start before skipper Graham Razey made the breakthrough in the 10th over bowling spin, inducing a caught and bowled. 27/1. This brought Mark Allison to the crease, who went after everything, scoring 37 in 23 balls to push the scoring along. This put Farningham well ahead of the rate, and Offham never really recovered. Taking wickets at regular intervals was not enough, and Farningham got the target in the 40th over for the loss of five wickets.
